Statement -We believe marriage is a God ordained union between a man and a woman for life. Marriage was created for the purpose of couples promoting the Kingdom of God, parenting godly children, and enjoying sexual pleasure (Genesis 2:18-24; Matthew 19:3-8; 1 Timothy 1-5)

1. We believe marriage is a God ordained union between a man and a woman for life.
   • The attack on marriage today is seen primarily in two ways:
     • Marriage is no longer seen as a   union.
     • The definition of marriage is being changed.
   • God’s ideal for marriage is that it be:
     • Between one man and one woman
     • A permanent union(for life)3.Genesis 2:20-25, Mark 10:7-9, Malachi 2:13-16, Mark 10:2-5
2. Marriage was created for the purpose of couples promoting the Kingdom of God.
   • God had chosen to create humanity in the imago dei. Imago dei =  
   • The oneness of marriage shows us a more complete picture of who God is.
   • Marriage is one of the primary metaphors that God uses to describe his relationship with Israel in the Old Testament and the church in the New Testament.
   • Genesis 1:26-27, Ephesians 5:23-32
3. Marriage was created for the purpose of couples parenting godly children.
   • 3 areas important to raising godly children:
     • 1. Parents are to be good   for their children.
     • 2. Parents need to teach their children the scriptures and help them learn how to apply them.
     • 3. Parents need to seek God’s will for their children;   for them.
   • James 5:12, Deuteronomy 6:6-7, Psalm 119:9-16
4. Marriage was created for the purpose of couples enjoying sexual pleasure
   • Sex is meant to be  to the marriage relationship.
   • Sex is a gift.C.Genesis 1:31, 1 Corinthians 7:3-4
