The Life of Christ: The Truth in the Temptation (Luke 4:1-13)

Into the Wilderness (Luke 4:1)

1. Right after Jesus was baptized, the Holy Spirit, leads Jesus out into the  .
2. Jesus was led into the wilderness where he would be tested and   by Satan.
3. There are going to be times in life that you are going to be led into the desert to be   and tested.

Temptation 1: Self Sufficiency (Luke 4:2-5)

1. Jesus was   and praying, seeking God the Father.
2. God is faithful to provide and   us we do not have to take matters into our own hands.

Temptation 2: Idolatry (Luke 4:5-8)

1. The temptation:
   • To   the cross.
   • To worship something other than God.
2. When we choose to worship anything other than God we are choosing to be  .

Temptation 3: Doubt (Luke 4:9-13)

1. We test things we don’t trust
2.   faith and worship of God does not attempt to force God to prove His faithfulness.
3. We need to Know God’s word and how to   is correctly.
