Anxiety (Matthew 6:25-26)

  1. God helps those who are   to help themselves.
  2. Two problems:
    • We are a fiercely   people.
      1. We are led to believe that we don’t   God.
      2. We have a pick-yourself-up-by-the-boot-straps
    • We confuse   with needs.
  3. If our hearts are in   and our eyes are on Jesus, then not only do we not have to worry and be anxious about our daily needs, but we won’t want.
  4. Jesus has   to meet our needs.

Control Issues (Matthew 6:27-30)

  1. We struggle with anxiety because we struggle with  .
  2. The first sin was less about knowing both good and evil and more about wanting to be   (Genesis 3:6).
  3. We continually assert independence and fight God for control, which lead to  .
  4. If God cares about the beasts, birds and flowers to such an extent that they have no need to fear or be anxious, then we can have   that God will care for us because we are much more important to God.
  5. When we are anxious, we are telling God one of two things:
    • God, I don’t believe you are   of meeting my needs or…
    • God, I believe you are   to me when you say that you will meet my needs.

Seek the Source (Matthew 6:31-34)

  1. Jesus knows what you need   you know what you need.
  2. It is Jesus’   to meet our needs so that we can focus on our relationship with Him.
